Music Class is fun when you homeschool!

Music Class is one of the essential areas outside of academia that every child should have in order to have more developmental skills.

This provides a new way of thinking, the capacity to develop talent and an understanding of how sounds work. If you are looking for a way to add in music to homeschool education, there are different approaches that you can take in order to provide this developmental skill to your children.

Through various research, it has been found that music class helps to enhance and develop specific areas of the brain. This allows children to begin to understand alternative concepts dealing with spatial relations, mathematics, vocal development and an understanding of sound. This, combined with the capacity to develop skills with musical history and philosophies, can provide children with a way of having proficiency in musical capacities that can help them to develop their musical perspective over a lifetime.

If you don't teach music or don't have the expertise, there are several options for adding a homeschool music class into the curriculum. There are a variety of music teachers and specialists that can provide children with a basic understanding of playing instruments or theory concepts that are used within the language of music. There are also options with software, online curriculum guidance and method books that will give you a guide towards teaching musical skills. This will broaden the experiences of children into the basic development within musical reasoning.

The first option for homeschool music classes is to find a music class that is offered in the community by a music professor. There are typically two types of teachers that can be found. The first will offer private lessons on a specific instruments, such as the piano or guitar. Other teachers will provide classes with other children at the same skills levels.  This will focus on a specific concept of music, such as learning an instrument or basic theory within music. Both of these options will provide different types of learning enhancement for music.

As you move your curriculum into homeschool music options, you will want to continue to offer a progression with the music that is being learned. For instance, if your child is learning a specific instrument, you will want to make sure that the theory and history of music is also added in as a part of the music class. If there is a focus on a certain type of musical concept, you will want to expand the class options that you may have so that you can provide your child with a well rounded education in the area of musical concepts.

If you are looking for a way to ensure that your children receive a well rounded education, not only in the area of academics, but also with art basics, than adding in a music class to the curriculum will provide you with the capacity to help and develop new skills for your children. Putting in homeschool music as a part of the basics, and finding ways to add this in proficiently, will open doors to new understandings of how music works.

Personally, my favorite way to teach music, was to join a Music class Co-Op group, where my children can learn with other homeschoolers.  Learn more about Co-Ops here.
