Understanding Homeschool Grammar

There are different types of homeschool grammar explained below, Analytical, Applied, and Electronic.

Analytical Grammar looks at grammar from a systematic approach. Over a three year period, for the middle to junior high levels, grammar is studied for 10 to 12 weeks intensively, which are broken into stages and then only reviewed the rest of the year. Analytical Grammar is learned by connecting the concepts of grammar in whole, rather than teaching them separately.

Applied Grammar analyzes the components of sentence structure and its composition, focusing on formal writing, punctuation and usage. The goal of applied learning is to teach students how to properly use word tools, which are taught through writing sentences and are duplicated in the correct pattern.  Lessons begin at the Elementary level and continue through into the Intermediate level, practicing writing sentences following the learned pattern. The outcome of applied learning enables a student to write and speak more effectively.

Electronic Grammar allows homeschool grammar students to improve their proofreading, editing and writing skills. These skills are necessary for students to write clear sentences for email messages, memorandums, letters and reports. Electronic Grammar lessons are taught to Intermediate, High School and homeschool grammar students.

TONS of Homeschool Resources listed below
Easy Grammar Systems where students learn how to correctly use grammar.  The systems approach to teaching makes grammar easy to understand by reviewing previously learned concepts and introducing new concepts showing the student why that usage is appropriate. Grammar Systems begins in the Elementary level and runs through the students Senior level of study.
The Latin Road where students will gain a better understanding of the English language through the study of Latin with a handbook and written and oral work.  Completion of the system takes approximately three years. By the end of the course, students should be able to work through any Latin work. To make learning and teaching Latin easier, The Latin Road includes: textbooks, worksheets, tests, vocabulary cards, answer keys, lesson plans, verb charts, audio CD’s and training DVD’s.
Electronic Grammar Usage is a computerized learning system that includes lesson objectives, learning matter, audio tutorials, lesson reinforcers, online flashcards, graded tests, module mastery tests, and a complete grading system.

Stevenson Learning publishes the Stevenson Reading Program, Stevenson’s Essential Grammar, Stevenson’s Cursive Writing and other materials for teaching basic skills to both regular and learning disabled students. They established techniques like mnemonics (memory aids) and multisensory instruction in imaginative new ways. The materials accommodate common learning problems, such as attention deficits, phonological processing difficulties, memory weakness and sequencing confusion.
The Grammar Key is designed for students having difficulty with grammar and writing, for teachers who are not necessarily English majors, and for ESL teachers who want alternatives to teaching English grammar to foreign students.
Winston Grammar helps students understand the structure of language and comprehend the principles of traditional grammar. The Winston Program uses innovative means to achieve conventional ends. It does away with the traditional grammar textbook, lecture approach, and heavy emphasis on memorization.
Instead, it gives students a set of color-coded clue cards and a book of exercises, which together generate multi-sensory activities:
