Bible Study and homeschool-no better choice for the perfect curriculum!

Teaching Bible Study to your children?  If you are new to teaching children Biblical studies, and books are the only thing you can think of, we have some great Bible Study Courses, and Bible Curriculum for you. We have always had a family Bible studies. For us it started when our children were very young, ages 2 and 4. We sat down each night and read a book that had a scripture for each letter of the alphabet. It not only had the scripture but it also had a 3-4 sentence explanation.

While this book was not designed to be a preschool curriculum, it became that for us. We used this and other Bible games to create our own Christian homeschool curriculum even before our kids were homeschooling. I also researched printable bible studies on the internet and we’d incorporate those, coloring pictures and bible study games to make learning the scriptures fun.

As a reward for learning the verses for the entire alphabet our girls got to pick out their own “Big girl Bible".  It was special to them and they looked at their Bibles so much that they ended up falling apart.

We didn’t want the learning to stop there but wanted to make it a lifelong pursuit so we next began slowly.  We read one chapter of Psalms and one chapter of Proverbs each night. So on the first day of the month we read Psalm 1 and Proverbs 1. This would work also for a bible study for teens even though we did it for our young children [which had grown to 4 kids from the original two].

I found myself being strengthened by these times of Bible reading with my kids. There were many nights where I’d come back down and re-read what we’d read as a family. More than once that Psalm or Proverb spoke to exactly what I was going through on that day. Bible study doesn’t need to be about teaching verses, and usually it shouldn’t. Bible study should be more about growing deeper in your relationship with a loving God and drawing closer to Him. It is about trusting his word whether he is talking about salvation or creation science, about hoping despite the circumstances or realizing your purpose for your life.

We weave scripture in all we do rather than making it a daily ‘subject’ in school but there is also great value is setting aside time and discovering the scriptures with your children.
